Coating Systems

Acorn Surface Technology can offer wet paint and lacquer coatings which meet UK and American Military and Aerospace Standards. Depending upon the specification, the coatings can be either air dried or force cured.

Prior to wet painting or lacquering the Aluminium will normally be chemically treated e.g. Chromic acid anodised to DEF STAN 03-24 or Chromate conversion coated to DEF STAN 03-18 or their equivalents.

After being pre-treated the component is coated with a primer, dried/cured, and then it can be coated with any matt or gloss finish required by the customer.

Components can be selectively painted or lacquered. This is achieved by masking off specified areas by using tapes, paints, or mechanical techniques.

Aluminium oxidises in air: you need a reliable layer to protect the metal from the elements.
Use our skill and expertise to provide the precise depth of layer that you need.

Coating your plastic or metal component with Nickel will extend its life and add other valuable properties. This treatment is often used for advanced materials.

To avoiding Cadmium plating whilst achieving crucial corrosion and electrical properties; IVD is an attractive choice of treatment.
The Aerospace manufacturer's treatment of choice!
